Why it matters here
The reason to specify this family for a British test department is the BS EN 61000-4 immunity work: dips, interruptions and variations to -4-11, harmonics and interharmonics to -4-13, and frequency variation to -4-28 are all modes on the front panel rather than an external arbitrary generator and an amplifier. The 3–4 times peak current is what makes the surge-current measurement on a switched-mode supply honest, because the source is not the thing that limits the inrush.
