ENA EREC G98 Issue 2
G98 and the 16 A per phase threshold
The fully-type-tested route for micro-generation up to and including 16 A per phase, and the line that decides whether you are in G98 or G99.
Issue 2 is dated 10 March 2025, the same revision date as G99 Issue 2 — the pair moved together.
Why this reaches the test bench
The threshold is the design decision. A product that sits just above 16 A per phase falls into G99 and a materially heavier type-test programme, which changes what test equipment the manufacturer needs before the product exists.
How this differs from the American regime
There is no US equivalent of the 16 A per phase split; IEEE 1547 scales differently.
