SI 2021/1467
The EV smart charge point technical file
A GB-only regulation that requires a technical file containing test reports, for a product category Intepro already serves.
Applies to charge points for cars and vans sold from 30 June 2022. Extent is Great Britain.
Why this reaches the test bench
Regulation 13 requires that a relevant charge point is accompanied by a statement of compliance when sold, and that a technical file exists in respect of it — design documentation, operating manuals, TEST REPORTS and software versions — supplied to any purchaser who requests it. A legally required file containing test reports implies a test programme, and the regulation excludes public charge points and rapid chargers at or above 50 kW, which is where the scope line falls.
How this differs from the American regime
There is no American analogue to this instrument.
