AC sources and frequency converters
Programmable AC supplies and grid simulators, from a 600 VA bench unit to a 2 MVA installation.
This is the category most British compliance work lands in. G99 type verification wants a variable AC test supply it can step in half-percent increments; Def Stan 61-005 and DO-160 want a source that can hold an abnormal condition long enough to prove the equipment under test survives it; a 400 Hz aircraft bus wants a source that produces 400 Hz properly rather than approximately.

A four-quadrant AC source large enough to stand in for the distribution network, which returns absorbed power to the supply instead of dissipating it.
This is the line G99 Issue 2 all but describes. Annex A.7.1.2.2 asks for type verification against a variable AC test supply, stepping voltage in increments of 0.5% or less, holding past the trip delay, then jumping in a single step so trip time can be measured. Doing that across Interface Protection, LFSM-O, LFSM-U, RoCoF, Fault Ride Through and Vector Shift is a bench that runs for days, and regeneration is what makes running it for days affordable.

A solid-state 400 Hz source for aircraft electrical work, in bench sizes through to hangar ground power.
British aerospace work needs 400 Hz that is genuinely 400 Hz — a motor-generator set drifts, and an approximation fails the parts of DO-160 and Def Stan 61-005 that care about frequency accuracy and waveform. The adjustable 350–450 Hz range matters because variable-frequency aircraft buses are no longer the exception.

The large end of the programmable AC range, for defence and aerospace supplies that have to hold an abnormal condition rather than merely reach it.
British aircraft electrical work is assessed against Def Stan 00-970, not the American MIL-STD-704 — different documents under the same NATO agreement, STANAG 3456, rather than translations of one another. What both regimes have in common is that the hard part is sustained abnormality: hold a voltage out of tolerance, hold a frequency excursion, and prove the equipment under test rides it. A source sized for the steady state and not the excursion is the usual reason a test programme stalls.

The bench member of the same family: a small programmable AC source with a wide frequency range.
Most British single-phase product verification lives here — 230 V nominal, its tolerance band, and whatever the product's own standard asks for either side of it. The optional 15–1000 Hz range is what makes the same box useful for early aerospace development work before anything moves to a 400 Hz source.
ANRGS(F) regenerative AC and DC source

A regenerative source that produces AC or DC from the same chassis across a wide frequency range.
The AC-or-DC-from-one-chassis arrangement suits a bench that has to cover both a grid-connection programme and DC bus work without buying twice. The 30–100 Hz span reaches well outside the 50 Hz British norm, which is what off-nominal frequency testing actually requires.

A high-power three-phase source and frequency converter with automatic voltage ranging.
Auto-ranging is the practical difference on a production line: full power is available at both the low and high voltage bands without re-configuring, so a line running 115 V and 230 V product does not need two sources or a changeover.

A broad frequency-converter range covering bench sizes through to installation scale.
The common British use is exporting or importing equipment built for another supply: running 60 Hz 120 V product on a 50 Hz 230 V site, or proving CE-marked equipment on the supply it will actually meet. Figures should be confirmed against the supplier's current datasheet before they are quoted.
